Designed by Russ Lederman of Denkmeier Optical, A manual detailing the operation of the Newt Reduction Power Switch System is available by email. This Newtonian Reduction System is added to the Newtonian Or Universal Denk II Power x Switch System as an option ($249). When implemented, it creates a 1X factor with The Newtonian Power x Switch System or a .87X factor when used with The Universal Power x Switch System. Additional intrusion does result but only when reduction is implemented via the very handy and slick Reduction Power x Switch! If you crave wider fields in your Big Dob with your Denkmeier Binoviewer, this is the ticket! A second power option allowing not only reduction, but multiplication is now available for a price of $299. Allows reduction and 3X multiplication when opposite arm is equipped withy the second lens.

I observed again tonight (with Michigan's record cold below freezing temps)
from my home, so I could go inside and warm up. This time I started out with
the Multiplier OCS on Venus and went though all 9 powers (mostly in order except
for the one that is out of order, since it is easier to remember L/M/R for the
forward reducer/multiplier power switch first and L/R/M for the aft dual power
switch second in the zoom in series. With the multiplier OCS, I can go through
all 9 power combinations by just normal focusing without moving the Denk in the
focuser. Since the Denk and eyepieces were warm from the house, I learned it is
best to start with the lower power Newtonian OCS which I used next agian for all
9 different powers, and Venus looked good. I also looked at C39 Eskimo Nebula
and M42/43 in all 9 powers with the various filters; both looked great in all
powers. The low power made it easier to find (like a finder scope, and it is
nice being able to switch powers easy and quickly while maintaining the object in
the view (without automatic tracking), I think the Eskimo looked the best at
higer powers, with a brighter center. I also looked at M31, M32, M1, M45, M79,
C14, M81, M82, M41, M93, C64, Due to the frigid temps, I decided not to wait
till Saturn came up above the trees and my house. I really like that new
reducer/multiplier dual power switch. -Ken
